Mk 1 is playing up so feel free to post in this thread now. I suggest a new thread is started once we make it to page 15, in case the proboards servers have problems with threads over that level, although it probably is something else. Either way, we lose les posts if it happens again.
Last film I saw was The Chronicles Of Ridd*ck on Monday night. I can't understand why he is supposed to be 'evil' apart from the fact that he's very good at killing people/monsters and was in prison for multiple murders prior to the beginning of Pitch Black (the first film in the trilogy). This last installment shows Ridd*ck meeting up with the girl from the first film and their relationship which rsembles a surrogate father daughter struggle as he unsuccessfully tries to convince her not to be like him. Touching, but I feel this film only scratches the surface. Vin Diesel is very charismatic as the lead character and smoulders his way through his lines with his deep voice. He shows himself to be a very capable actor and perhaps someone I wish I had discovered before. Judi Dench is also engaging as an 'elemental', and the graphics are pretty awesome too. My only real complaint is I think the necromongers were a bit lame when it came down to their armour which seemed easily penetrated, even if they could move really fast.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Preferred the original, but was good for wtf moments. Featured Helena Bonham Carter and some kid who looks exactly like the one in James And The Giant Peach.
School Of Rock Jack Black is just fabby & it's an entertaining one.
Bruce Almighty better than I was expecting but not as good as my high hopes were...er... hoping. Reminded me a lot of Liar Liar, showed Carey could handle a more mature role (ie less slapstick and didn't require his rubber-face talents)

And i also saw all the above films..as i was with her at the time

The Final Cut Starred Robin Williams, Mina Sorvino and that bloke from Gattacca (sp?). Eric Bana, I think. Anyway, it reminded me of Minority Report judging by the technology. Basic story is that Robin Williams is a "cutter" - someone who edits together the footage of people's lives, as some are installed with tiny cameras before they're born. This means that everything they see through their eyes is recorded, and can be edited together as a "remorial" to be watched at their funeral. Robin Williams has a dark past, and now gets to "cut" someone's remorial, however other poeple want that footage too. So yesh, competition etc.
Was an ok film, bit too thinky for someone who's dropping off at the time. And kind of a nothingy ending. But it proves that Williams can indeed do the serious roles after a career based on comdies and impressions.

Dawn Of The Dead remake - director's cut. Personally, I couldn't identify which bits were added in, as opposed to the original version of the remake. Thus the tagline "too terrifying to show in cinemas" (or something similar) was rather wasted. Still good though! Not bad for a tenner.

Hide & Seek. I loved it. I really, really didn't see the ending coming, and they managed to pull off the deus ex machina thing without it being too corny.
The Anchorman. With Will Ferrell. The first ten minutes were fine, but after that it just started to hurt. Yes, it had the odd funny moment, but I think I gnawed off about half of my fingernail to stop me crying in anguish.

Hedwig And The Angry Inch
Amazing film if you don't have a problem with Gays and Transvestites. As it turns out, I'm in love with them. Fab film for the alternative mind.
Equilibrium
A cross between The Matrix and 1984. Excellent fight scenes, and a twisted, almost Nazi like feel to it. Must watch this film!!!
I haven't really watched many films as of late... should get myself some more DVD's.

I read about this one when researching gay and lesbian cinema for a presentation. Times like this I'm glad I studied film. I'm glad you liked it - it sounded pretty good on paper at least.
