A place to whack up any "help help my pooter's spazzing" posts, and equally any news about viruses doing the round and things of that ilk. *Please remember, if you have any queries about the site itself then this is the thread to post in* Links to free anti-virus and free firewall.

It's not a security issue but it would be helpful if someone could tell me how to rectify this graphic problem: Now it used to be that you could set a specific colour in Paint to appear transparent, however since getting XP I can't find the tab that lets you choose this function. Or put another way, I was making an icon and filled the background in bright green, and wanted to set the green to transparent but can't find anything that let's me make that setting.

I've been trying that too in Paint, and i don't think there is a tab in the XP version for it

At least I wasn't being blind then... ;D That was one of the best functions about Paint! I'll let you know if I find anything else that does the job.

Not sure how much truth this claims holds, or if it's just another panic-spam forward, but I'm posting it just to be safe. can anyone shed any light on whether it's genuine or not?

Probably panic spam but watching out for someone emailing power point presentations can't be a bad thing.

It's spam. You can tell by the way it says 'This is not a joke!'.

Okay, I have another problem. On my old computer which had Windows ME my Bluetooth dongle worked fine, but on my AMD Athlon Beast and Windows XP the computer doesn't register the dongle properly and can send data to my phone but won't pick it up from the phone. Gah!

I was pondering over whether "dongle" was the technical term, but didn't mention anything so as not to appear stupid The only thing I would think of checking is if you have a "send but don't receive" option selected on either ye bluetooth whatsit or erm... other thing.

Good thought... but there isn't anything like that. And believe it or not it is called a Bluetooth USB Dongle. I did find there is help on the cd which I shall check... I miss the days of big ol' paper manuals!

"I am reminded that there is another virus circulating that hides itself in a message that says something like 'Your IP has been logged' & supposedly comes from the CIA or similar security service.
Yes, it's another virus so don't open any such e-mails & delete them straight away"
Because some twonk is bound to fall for it.
