I tried very hard to have imaginary friends when I was about 8, but I got bored and forgetful very easily, so they never stuck. I also had imaginary horses... (My nextdoor neighbour and I used to play one of those "oh no, the baddies are after us, get the children to safety on teh horses! OMGWTFBBQ!121!"!"!eleven" type deals, ye see... )

I didn't have any until I was 15, oddly. Then I created Matt the Mentor. I rarely see him now though. I think he has other charges.

i used to kind of "talk to" a person who wasn't there, but i dunno if that counts. as i didn't give him a name. he was used mostly to try and get me to do something. like go into a crowded room and other things i hated.
