The Post Secret blog is such a simple, yet touching idea. Random people from all over the place just send in postcards with an anonymous secret written on the reverse. It's some kind of safe, public airing of things they can't tell poeple directly. It's interesting.

They'll invent anything these days to avoid direct communication.

You make it sound very negative.
Personally I think it's a great idea for those who want to get something off their chest, knowing that certain things will be read. It's avoiding the usual cry for help or anything of the sort, as it's just an anonymous way to vent certain things without any guilt nor worry attached.
One of those letters is really no different to one entry in an anonymous livejournal. Considering the price of therapy these days, which seems to be what is recommended to those who need but cannot find someone to talk to, I consider it a positive, non-exploitative outlet for those writing in.

Yeah, I mean I do see how venting is good... but, again, without sharing properly it seems a little empty. But that's just me. I don't want anyone offended, I'm just a bit concerned is all.

*shrugs* Judging from the responses left on that site ( here) about how it's affected them, the result is anything but empty. Many who have written in have found it to be liberating and empowering. That can only be a good thing. Also, Id like to point out that it's not always a case of sharing whatever they're keeping in the dark. Sometimes it's just a case of coming to terms with things. For example: ""My secret is sitting right in front of me on a postcard that has already been addressed and has a stamp on it. I'm trying to get enough courage to send it. It's finally become real now that it's on paper. Thank you, I've finally accepted my secret. :-)" -Maryland"

I really like this site. It's inspirational. It's sort of mellowed out my mood. I don't have anything to submit, but I think I'll make a postcard anyway.

Yes, I read every single one and all the comments. And I did find them inspirational. I stick by my view that I do find them a positive outlet.
Why do you label some as "crazy"?

Did you read some of them post cards i mean damn... inspirational i not the word i would use (for some).... more like crazy... I personally wouldn't label them crazy. I grant you, not all of them are initially inspirational, but I think that is more the readers' ignorance and the fact that some are more challenging to understanding. Cryptic, almost. I too read each and every one of them, and the comments, and found the vast majority a 'good read', if I can use that term for something so short. I've sent the link to a few people I know, and they're all pretty positive about it. A nice find, thanks Ellen.

Ok, ok... gang up on the freak... and by "crazy" i only ment like 1 or 2. Crazy..... "when i was a teenager i used to babysit my nextdoor neighbours son. When he was asleep i would go into the perents bedroom and go through their bedside drawers. I found a packet of condoms and put a pin through each and every one of them, and thus ensured myself another 5 years of baby sitting"... and i thourght i was a crazy weirdo... inspirational? or crazy? But i love the "I STILL dream that i still might one day become Superman" i hope he goes for his dream.... Wish i knew how, then i'd help him

Just because people express an opinion different to yours and are genuinely interested in how you reached your opinion, doesn't mean they're ganging up on you. I enquired as to why you found some "crazy" as it's a pretty strong accusation to bandy about without sufficient evidence to support your claim. (And to some it can seem offensive). Yes, it's unusual, and I would be slightly worried at the example you've put forth, but you have to admit there's logic there (which is usually absent in many "crazy" cases). Furthermore, s/he was a teenager and doesn't sound particularly proud of this secret. *shrugs* I still find the majority inspirational and the site a positive outlet, whether there are "crazies" who submit their secrets, or not.
