Well my advice is don't start one unless you have a cause really! Get a common theme for people to discuss (usually is best although Smerkers is an exception... probably because us mods talk enough to keep it going!!). Start with a simple colour scheme... and make sure it's all readable, and then adapt it from there. I tried reading your welcome thread but it's dark on dark... so you'll need to adapt that. As a fledgling board it's good you have not too many boards... get your focus and it should grow. My site originally was for writing about bands but the more popular parts of it is where musicians talk about what they are doing... so you never can predict how these things will go. You're called we love rhinos but what does that mean? Once you're sorted the basics I've a bunch of add ons I will recommend if you wish.

But you're the only member... What has power got in relation to forum discussion? What do you want talk about?

*ahem* Cheesemonkey's DenMy forum is about a lot of nothing really, but still has enough interest (just about) to keep it going. I think to have a decent forum you need a good online community - people you know and who want to chat online, and aren't already all on the same forum. I think it's also a good idea to spend a lot of time on other forums learning exactly how they work before setting your own up - maybe by working as a board moderator on a friend's forum for a while. EDIT: just fixing the link..

Good advice Danny. I meant to say some moderating experience is good before you start, too.
Now I've read your welcome message, your site sounds a bit more specific. Kind of like a junior Smerkers. Cool.

You can spell my name right. Brilliant. Most people end it 'ly' which after 21 years gets on my nerves. Cheers for the modship but I'm not sure I need all that power to be honest.
