I work for British Gas, and I've worked for Currys. One thing I've learned is the larger the company the more assholes you meet as you try to do your job, and have to put up with the cack jobs other people do as you tidy up the mess they leave, or sometimes simply be frustrated and upset at the lack of enthusiasm and support when you just want to consult a department because you honestly cannot advice sufficiently on an issue.
So gripe away. What's the main thing you hate about multidepartmental companies?
Fortunately, I do not make calls to other companies often so I don't have much experience of being on the customer end of things, but I have to admit it is bad enough working within companies at times!
It is nice though, when someone has talked to you like a real person with empathy and listened to you and made you feel your particular need was given value.

I hate these places. In my workplace, even though we are all as important as each other (the checkouts wouldn' work without the shift putting things out, which wouldn't work without taking in the deliveries etc) there seems to be a huge thing about my dept being the lowest common denominator - we have to cover for all the other departments if they're short, as well as doing our own work. We also get blamed the most if something goes wrong, and get little to no credit if we do good work. I hate business hierarchies
