Yes. There is a reason why it's called text speak and it should be reserved solely for text messages. If only people would stick to it! Language can be a beautiful thing but not in the hands of the lazy.

i find it a million times easier to type full words, than type in txt tlk. using the '2' and '4' etc. seems a waste of time, and effort. which you should never waste. i'll admit i'm prone to the odd 'lol' but that doesn't count, cos er... i'm better than you.

I personally despise txttlkrs, and leetspeak is just as bad, really. What really annoys me is when people add a "z" instead of a "s" etc, because that's not even cutting down on characters!

i could fully understand txt speak when it was necessary to shorten words, as phones only had a limited amount of characters - about 140 i beleive, but now, you can probably write an essay/sermon/death threat in a sinlge message, so there's no point in it.

use of it in the internet annoys me too - i use 'lol', i admit, but otherwise, it's annoying...there's a keyboard in front of you, use the goddamn letters!

Re: 'lol', I use that too. But only because you can only say 'hehe' so many times before you want to tear your hair out... though I really have any hair to speak of..

I absloutely hate text speak. Especially on Forums and MSN.
