Okay here's the deal: You have been given the opportunity to be totally honest in your opinion in a performer's performance style. What would you tell them and why? This isn't an opportunity to bitch at people - this is things you think would improve their act.

Slipknot: play metal, drop the gimmicks and the masks for that matter. It got you famous, but now you're there and you don't need it. I truly believe there's a pretty good band under all the crap but its not gonna come out while all the mall-metal crowds love you just because of the masks, or the apocalyptic things you say.
i'm not sure i got the gist of this thread... its quite early.

It's funny you mentioned Slipknot, cos I have a major gripe with Corey Taylor:
*a-hem*
"Corey dear, there is one thing that really bugs me about your vocal style."
"Okay, let's hear it."
"I think that your normal singing voice is actually quite good, and you spoil it a bit by doing all the screaming. In some places, yes, I think the extra rawr can be effective, but it really doesn't work in every song, so maybe you should play around a bit with how you do things and drop some of the pseudo-hardman-in-trauma routine."
"..."
"Or put another way, I want to hear more of your clear tones on your next record, and maybe occasionally sounding like you enjoy it because I think there is a singer in there who could be pretty impressive."
"Um... okay."
