i've started listening to slower and darker metal lately, bordering on doom. stuff like Isis, Pelican, Ewigkeit and Boris. i've started listening to Lawrences Cds a bit now, and although i still fail to see the point of Khanate and Sunn 0))), i'm starting to appreciate bands like Electric Wizard etc.

I've started liking a slightly daft metal band called Accept. I hear them on internet radio sometimes. The last time I heard them, it was a song called Dogs On Leads, which was the main line of the song. Very catchy and daft songs but the musicianship is certainly decent.

ok, you may laugh but i've been getting into Emo/Screamo a fair bit this week. some of the older stuff like Saetia, Neil Perry and Planes Mistaken For Stars and some newer stuff which is almost a crossover to post-hardcore like Eden Maine, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and Poison The Well.
when done well its a great genre..

they've been around for a while, i've kind of liked them a while but only recently started appreciating the influence they have on a big number of bands.

Kid Rock lately... the first song I liked was Bawitiba, but I'm really getting into his less rappy, more country stuff. His duet with Sheryl Crow on Picture, is worth catching. The video is quite good too. Kid Rock vids.

Somebody recommended Pink Floyd to me at the weekend and I thought of you. Especially as they recommended Division Bell and another album I forget.

That person knows what they're talking about Division Bell's a cracking album, imo...but not everyone likes it. It all depends on the era, as to the style of music - their early work was very psychadelic, whilst the middle period, is a lot more proggy, with a few acoustic gems thrown in, whilst anything post Roger Waters is a bit more MOR, i think.

Lordi and Mortiis... got introduced to them a while back via a dvd of music vids I was lent, then was reminded of them again, cos i confused the two when I heard Lordi were doing Eurovision.

It is odd. You're not wrong there, but Decadent and Desperate is a good bit of metally dance music.

I've got back into Radiohead again recently. I gave it a rest for a while as i got bored, but i'm firmly back listening to them. Can't beat "The Bends".
