Misguided propaganda. The original had a clear aim for a specific problem. This one is very confused in my opinion.

The concert itself was pretty good, in my opinion, though some acts did get on my nerves a bit: U2 - i still can't see what all the fuss is about...and Bono seems too far up his own arse, and thinks he's Geldof. Mariah Carey - only there to plug her new song, and album honestly. Poor performance, and didn't seem to care about why she was there. Paul McCartney - only here due to his dubious choice of 'Hey Jude' as a final song...otherwise, he was pretty damn excellent. There were good points too: The Killers - Deserved to be able to play more than the one song, but made the most of what they could. Pink Floyd - In-Fecking-credible. They managed to show the younger acts what it is to be a band, and to see Waters and Gilmour back together bought a tear to my emo eyes. Not surprised their album sales have risen 1000% (apparently) after the gig The Who - Another band who crawled back the years. Daltrey's voice and presence weren't what they were, but Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son, for those who didn't know) managed to get close to what Moon managed all those years ago. Coldplay - some think they're boring, and i can see why they think that, but this is a bad that are slowly making their live performances as good as they sound in the studio, and Chris Martin is growing in stature as a frontman. I'm going to stop the mini reviews, as i could do all of them The whole event as a whole was, if you look at it, pretty amazing. Sure, it's only to raise awareness, and not to throw money at it, but if the G8 actually do help with poverty, then i can guarantee that the sceptics will change their views on the impact of the event. I'm sitting on the fence as to whether it will have the desired effect, but hell there were some good performances!
