what music magazines do you recommend?
i only ever get Metal Hammer, which is pretty good. and has the added bonus of a free CD or 2. its horribly typo ridden sometimes as well, but other than that its good. good photos, good coverage of less well known bands, good competitions, just good really.

I normally get Kerrang, and NME...though i'll sometimes buy things like Q, if there's something that catches my eye.

Classic Rock magazine has some nice freebies or it did the one time I bought a copy. I'm quite tight when it comes to mags to be honest, but there was another I liked... big thick thing which had a feature on Deep Purple... Guitarist, maybe. For tuition, Guitar Techniques is quite good as they give you instructed tutorials. Some of their tutors include Guthrie Govan who I hear is worthy of a G3 placing according to people on the Steve Vai webforum. I saw this guy once on Southampton train station... I didn't ask for his autograph though. Total Guitar is ok music range wise but they often make mistakes/give you awkward fingerings. Bit of a mixed bag that one. I get it occasionally if they've got something good/interesting going on in it. Their interviews are one of the strong points I think.

I used to but Muzik magazine (clubbing magazine) for the breaks and leftfield reviews, but then I realised I was spending all that money on a magazine where'd I'd actually only read about 3/4 pages, so I stopped buying it. Shame I'd got about 20/30 of the buggers already.
