Roight, as someone who's always pootling about looking for new bands that interest me, I'm calling upon your musically-intoxicated brains, ye load of noise-junkies. There are some tracks that a band/group/soloist etc produces that are just typical of the rest of their work. Like 1-2 tracks that, if you heard them, you know you'd like the rest of what they churn out cos it's in that same vein. So yup, I'm curious as to what these could be. (As I've already gone through the period of hearing one stonking track from an artist, poking about for the rest of their stuff, and being incredibly disappointed that the rest is nothing like the original track.) So yes, tell me the band etc and a track(s) please. 'Hank-yoh. (And yes, I know that there are always going to be a few tracks that don't conform to the rest of them, and that musical diversity and self-exploration/development etc is a good thing to find in a band's work. However, I'm playing for the safe bets, here. Plus it's useful to get some idea of consistancy.)

The only person in my collection that immediately springs to mind, is Steve Vai, for whilst their is some diversification in his work, it is all quite distinctive. Firstly for the humour in it. Secondly, for the 'conversations' that often occur among instruments. Thirdly, for the playful themes, and not just the humour used in expressing them. And fourth, the catchy choruses in those pieces that contain lyrics (for a lot of his work is instrumental).
One can easily see a link between his first solo effort in 1984, Flexible, take #@?! Yourself or News At Ten, and you can see similarities in the handling of themes in stuff made ten years later on Fire Garden, check When I Was A Little Boy.
