What is it with companies thinking their ads are great, when in fact they're pants? What's even worse is when the campany makes an ace ad, only to replace it after a while with a completely sh*te one? WHY?!
What's spurred this is the Phone4U ads. Now, I woke up this morning with the #phones, for you, for less, at phone for you# ad in my head. You know, the one where they're driving about in a van, going #everybody get in a big canoe and row on down to Phone4U# Now that was an ace ad! It was catchy, it was "cool" and it madea lot of the people at my college see the store as more of an approachable (not really the right word, but I know what I mean) store to go for phones, rather than the fuddyduddy (what an old word!) place for business men and chavs.
Yet they didn't stick to it! They replaced it with some "quirky"* series of ads, involving Scary Mary and the bloke who screeches "yeah!" repeatedly in a damn car. Now that is not going to pull in many customers, let me tell you. It makes the company look lame, to put it both mildly and politely.
Also, on the sh*te ads note, I just saw an ad for a glaziers, I think, with a guy with long hair, green background, and similarly "zany"** approach to salesmanship. Not only is it irritating and unprofessional, but it makes them look like cowboys who came up withthe concept when drunk and/or stoned, which, sadly enough, was probably the reality.
Anyone else agree or have similar crap ad nominations?
