Anyone watching this? Any thoughts?
I think some of what "Mr Simmons" has taught them is quite positive, but, I do feel that a lot of stuff in "rock" is a load of old pilchards. This whole thing about confidence, when many performers are known to be shy people, and need a drink in them or a drug to be bouncey and sociable kind of renders that partially void. On the other hand, others that don't do that but psyche themselves up naturally could be a more positive example.
Confidence and arrogance aside... teaching that rock singers can be crap... might be true but doesn't make 'em good. I also think some of the examples he used for the children in terms of role models could have been more imaginative.
Some singers are known to be really very good, like Ian Gillan (check out Child In Time by Deep Purple especially), Ronnie Dio (his Rainbow stuff in particular), David Lee Roth (slightly jazzy but still rock), and no doubt many others.
Also, when Josh chose the name 'Emperor', did anyone else think "prog"?

All I can say about this is I hope that my bass-playing friend didn't see the bit where they were choosing the bassist or when that kid said something like the bass being easier than guitar to play, he would've possibly nutted the screen - he finds it very insulting when people think all there is to bass is just playing 'duh duh duh duh de duh' all the time.
Can't say that I was surprised when some of the kids still hated rock music after seeing Placebo live, if I wasn't into rock and I had to sit watching Placebo I'd hate it too.

Oh yes. I can see that. I think it should be credit where it's due, and a lot of people shouldn't be on a stage by rights.
