I'm talking about Ricky Gervais' new show, Extras. It starts on BBC2 tonight at 9.00pm. He plays a struggling actor in case you haven't heard about it and he's got some pretty big stars in it playing themselves, but as slightly warped versions. Ben Stiller is in tonights first episode, and I've seen a clip with Kate Winslet. There are others, but I forget.
So what do you reckon it'll be like? A let-down after The Office, almost a "tricky second album" type situation, or do you think it'll be pretty good?
I'll probably end up missing it now...

i'm going to miss it, as i'm working...from what i've heard, it's very good, but i'll admit, i've not been blown away by the exerpts i've sene of it...almost a Ricky Gervais bandwagon, with a few other people there to try and make it seem like it's not about him.
re-reading that, i can see a resemblance to something...

I aw 5 minutes of it, found it contrived ( as I do with all his work, so there ye go, feel free to disregard), and switched off. Plus I dont' think he suits the more groomed/make-up-ed look.

I loved the first episode with Ben Stiller and liked the second with Ross Kemp. Overall I'm a fan so far, and each episode has had some absolutely brilliant moments (like the start of the second episode where Andy is buying some food), but I certainly don't find it nearly as funny or filling as 'The Office' - a comparison which is unfortinately unavoidable.

i'll admit that i've not seen a single one of these, but i heard that, as Alex said, Ben Stiller stole the show in the first episode.

I'm pretty sure I didn't say that But it's sorta true, he was great every time he appeared.

Finally, finally saw this. It was the one with Les Dennis and it ruled! There were a couple of jokes that went down like lead zeppelins but, yeah, I'll defintely be getting the DVD for this.
