Read this... Sight and Sound... and then decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing...
I'm thinking it is rather funny for a country that continually claims to be more progressive than anywhere else... but sarcasm aside, I think if cinema is going to be narrowly restricted then I think it is a shame, even if I don't particularly like the sort of films they discuss there. I thought Basic Instinct was good though. And it would be a pity if all sex scenes were left devoid of feeling as there is so much feeling in Western society now being drained and sucked right out. There is so little tenderness to be seen unless you dig really deep and prise it out of people with large blunt tools (no pun intended).
