It is a great, great loss to this generation, and a very great shame, too. It's hard to imagine that he's actually gone, given that he was a warm-hearted character, so full of life, vitality and endless enthusiasm. Hopefully his legacy will live on and his skilled team will rise to the challenge of continuing Australia Zoo's vital work. And, I must admit, he did seem indestructable. So much so that I'd imagined it'd be only a silly domestic incident that would be the end of him, such as tripping down the stairs or something, rather than a brush with a dangerous animal, simply because he is such an experienced person. He will be very much missed.
