On July the first two-thousand and seven Smoking in public bars and resturants will be banned. Being a smoker myself, I may have a biased opinion, but then so will everyone else, but furthermore the government chose NOT to exclude private bars and clubs in the blanket ban. I know this one is probably for the debates boards, but I feel people should say what they like. What are your views?

sure, then you will have sh*t loads of grouchy smoke depraved people snapping at you because they had no nicotine. another problem, with that is that more people will be smoking at home, therefore endanfering children. Everyone will just get hooked on heroin =P

Well it's not my fault some people don't deserve to have children. It's up to them if they endanger their kids, not anyone else.

True. But it is taking it a bit too far. Like pubs that dont serve food should be exempt, private bars and clubs are under the PUBLIC ban. it makes no sense.

How so? Why not just have smoking clubs? Free choice for all! Then us alcoholics can drink without polluting our lungs as well.

That's not strictly true now. There are documents where people had commented on the unpleasantness for many years before. Then once they knew it was physically harmful, and not just stinky etc, they understandably wanted to protect themselves.

alroight then. we'll just have to nip outside for a cancer stick then- wont we! New topic! In October I wont even be old enough to buy cigarettes its a f**king liberty. Its simple enough everyone who was legally old enough to buy cigarettes before the new law takes effect, should still be able to, and anyone who turns 16 afterwards- tough luck! the government really hates us smelling-of-ashtray guys!
